I work mainly with textiles and mixed media combining methods of manipulating fabrics such as stitch and deconstruction, with oil painting and layering techniques.
A proportion of my work is 3D installation but I also work within a frame and in 2D. Recently I have developed methods of working within clear perspex box frames in order to increase the effect of natural light on layers of fabric.
My principal area of interest and source of motivation comes from the natural environment, life on earth and beyond.
I am fascinated by the idea of a universal order that constructs pattern and form and the similarities that exist between the largest and smallest natural phenomenon. I try to reflect some of the beauty and variety that exists in these systems of nature through observation and invention.
